Taxi driver medical in York

Which doctor York will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is York’s answer and nobody else’s.

What York requires

• “Your medical must have been completed by your GP less than 6 months prior to the submission of your application”
• This council's own wording on how long it lasts is contradictory: 6 months - but the two sources CONFLICT on the end date. Application page: 'completed by your GP less than 6 months prior to the submission of your application'. Policy 38.1 (more recent, Nov 2024): 'At the time that a driver's licence is granted ... medical form must be dated within six months preceding the issue of the licence' - i.e. it must still be under 6 months old on the GRANT date, not the application date. Assume the stricter grant-date reading Ring them before you book.
• How often: 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65, then annually over 65
• Form: council's own (approved Group II Medical Examination Report Form issued by the Council)
• Their own sources disagree on this. Policy 37.3 wording 'the applicant is registered with the practice; and /or they have had full access to the applicant's medical records' means a non-registered doctor is acceptable if they have full access to the records, though the application page pushes 'your registered docto Ring them before you book anything.
