Taxi driver medical in East Hertfordshire

Your own GP, or a doctor with your records

Your own practice is the straightforward route, but another doctor can do it if they have had full access to your medical history. Private clinics that request your records can qualify. One that examines you without them cannot.

What East Hertfordshire requires

“Medical examinations must be conducted by a GP at the practice where you are registered or by a Doctor on the Council's approved list”
How long it lasts: the certificate states its own length: valid until age 45 if you are under 45, a maximum of 5 years between 45 and 65, and a maximum of 1 year over 65
How often: before a licence is granted, then whenever the certificate expires; the doctor may require a more frequent examination if there is doubt about your health
Form: two documents together: the East Herts Drivers Medical Certificate and the DVLA D4 medical examination report
Possible exemption: the Handbook's drivers policy says new applicants must produce either proof of current entitlement to drive a PSV and/or HGV, or a Group 2 certificate of medical fitness - so a current PSV/HGV entitlement is accepted in place of a medical
