Taxi driver medical in Breckland

Which doctor Breckland will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is Breckland’s answer and nobody else’s.

Only a provider the council names

The council will not accept a certificate from a doctor of your choosing. Use the provider they name, or you will have paid for a medical twice.

What Breckland requires

“You must use the Breckland Council form and a GP must certify you as being 'Fit to Drive' to DVLA GB Medical Standards for Group 2 Licence Holders”
How long it lasts: Three months from the date it is issued - and the clock runs to DETERMINATION, not submission: if the application is not determined within three months the driver has to get a fresh medical
How often: At first application, then on every renewal - i.e. every three years - up to age 65. From 65, annually. Also annually where a particular medical condition (e.g. diabetes) requires it
Form: The council's own 'Breckland Council Medical Declaration form' is MANDATORY - 'You must use the Breckland Council form'. It is not published for download on the site; you get it from the licensing team
Possible exemption: not published. The policy adopts the Group 2 standard for everyone and gives no exemption for HGV/PSV/PCV holders
