Taxi driver medical in Hinckley and Bosworth

Who can carry it out

Your own GP, or a doctor with your records

Your own practice is the straightforward route, but another doctor can do it if they have had full access to your medical history. Private clinics that request your records can qualify. One that examines you without them cannot.

What Hinckley and Bosworth requires

“All new applicants must undertake the medical examination and provide a satisfactory medical certificate before a licence is issued for the first time and thereafter every 5 years in line with DVLA standards and DFT best practice guidance”
How long it lasts: 6 months at the point the licence is issued - so do not leave the rest of your application hanging
How often: On first application, then every 5 years, and every year once you are 65. The council can also ask for one at any other time
Form: The Council's own medical form, based on the DVLA D4. It also expects an eye test by an optician alongside it
Possible exemption: YES, and it is a strong one - if you hold a PSV and/or LGV licence and can produce proof of the entitlement, you do not have to undergo a medical examination at all while you hold it
