Taxi driver medical in Edinburgh

Which doctor Edinburgh will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is Edinburgh’s answer and nobody else’s.

You do not arrange this with your GP at all. The council's own doctors carry out the examination, so the appointment comes through them and a medical you have already paid a GP for will not be accepted.

“The Council has generally adopted the Group 2 standards for Fitness to Drive and will require you to submit to regular medical examinations as appropriate”
How often: Every applicant must pass a medical before a first licence is granted. After that the Council 'will require you to submit to regular medical examinations as appropriate' - no age ladder or fixed interval is published. Licences run one year on grant and one or three years on renewal
