Taxi driver medical in Rushcliffe

Which doctor Rushcliffe will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is Rushcliffe’s answer and nobody else’s.

What Rushcliffe requires

• “DVLA to the licensing of lorry and bus drivers, are considered the appropriate standard for licensed Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers”
• How long it lasts: No dating window for the certificate itself. FLAG: the timing is tied to different points for new and renewal – for a new applicant the certificate must be produced before the application form is accepted, but for a renewal it must be produced before the renewal of the licence is GRANTED
• How often: First application, then every five years from the age of 45. Annually on reaching 65, and consequently the licence itself is only issued yearly from 65. Council may request a medical at any other time
• Form: Council's own medical form – held in the Related Documents section of the Rushcliffe taxi drivers webpage, to be taken to the appointment. An eyesight test is required before attending
• Possible exemption: YES – EXPLICIT. Holders of a PSV and/or LGV licence who can produce proof of a current medical examination less than 3 months old are not required to undergo a medical examination on first application. Note this is limited to FIRST application and to a medical under 3 months old
