Taxi driver medical in North Northamptonshire

Which doctor North Northamptonshire will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is North Northamptonshire’s answer and nobody else’s.

Your own GP, or a doctor with your records

Your own practice is the straightforward route, but another doctor can do it if they have had full access to your medical history. Private clinics that request your records can qualify. One that examines you without them cannot.

What North Northamptonshire requires

“Book an appointment with your GP as soon as possible as you will be required to submit a completed and signed medical examination report as part of your driver application. Your GP can use this form: DVLA medical examination report (PDF)”
How long it lasts: 3 months from the date of examination - and the council expressly overrides the form: 'valid for 3 months from the date of examination, and not 4 months as stated on the form'
How often: first application, then on every renewal (driver licences run 3 years) until 65; annually from 65, timed to the anniversary of the previous medical rather than the 65th birthday
Form: D4
Their own sources disagree on this. GOTCHA: the council deliberately halves the D4's own validity - the D4 says 4 months, North Northamptonshire will only accept 3 months from the date of examination. Must be the driver's own registered GP or a GP with full access to, and who reviews, the full medical records at th Ring them before you book anything.
