East of England · licence fees
What it costs to licence yourself, your vehicle and an operator with Peterborough. Every figure is taken from the council's own published schedule, never from trade press or an estimate.
Charges Peterborough lists separately from the licence fee itself. Budget for these as well.
Only what this council states. A blank here means they do not publish it, not that it is free, and there may be other charges besides. Check the official schedule before you budget.
Taken from democracy.peterborough.gov.uk. Checked 15 Sep 2026 (first read 31 Jul 2026. The source is a consultation notice inviting objections within 28 days. Its Existing and Proposed columns were re-read on 15 Sep 2026 and the figures held here before that date were the proposed ones, not the existing charge. No adopted schedule was found on the council website, so whether the proposal took effect is unconfirmed). Fees change, so confirm with the council before you budget around them. Drivers spot changes before I do, so if something here is wrong please say and I'll check it against the council and fix it.
Who Peterborough will accept: Any GMC-registered doctor.
The ages it repeats at, the form they want and the council’s own source are on the Peterborough taxi driver medical page.
1,729 licensed drivers, 1,299 licensed vehicles and 116 licensed operators, from the Department for Transport's 2024 figures (taxi and PHV statistics, table TAXI0113).
Every figure here is taken from democracy.peterborough.gov.uk and checked by hand.
