Taxi driver medical in North Tyneside

What North Tyneside requires

• “We use Group 2 standard as set out in the DVLA publication 'Assessing fitness to drive - a guide for medical professionals' as our policy on medical fitness. This standard is relevant for vocational drivers and is applied to HGV drivers and bus drivers”
• How long it lasts: 4 months from the date of examination - 'Important. This form is only valid for 4 months from the date of examination.' (Note the separate, differently-worded statement on the web page that 'the initial medical will remain valid until you are 45 years old' is about when the NEXT medical is due, not the shelf life of the certificate.) The certificate may be posted in by the GP either before or after the licence application is submitted
• How often: On initial application, then at age 45, then at five-yearly intervals until 65, then annually. Where a licensed driver has a monitored condition the council may also require a GP or consultant letter at each licence renewal
• Form: council's own
