Taxi driver medical in London (TfL)

Which doctor London (TfL) will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is London (TfL)’s answer and nobody else’s.

What London (TfL) requires

• “In assessing an individual's medical fitness, TfL will have regard to the medical standard that would apply in relation to a DVLA Group 2 licence”
• How often: From age 45 a medical at each licence renewal; from age 65 annually
• Form: council's own (TfL TPH/204 Medical Declaration, assessed against DVLA Group 2 standards)
• Possible exemption: Holding a valid DVLA Group 2 licence removes the need for the TPH/204, as does already being licensed by TfL as the other of taxi/PHV driver - unless TfL requests the form to confirm age-related fitness
