Taxi driver medical in Halton

Which doctor Halton will accept, how often you have to repeat it and which form they want. Councils disagree with each other on every one of those, so this is Halton’s answer and nobody else’s.

What Halton requires

• “If attending a medical examination undertaken by Ju st Health then you must attend your appointment with the following items otherwise the examination will not go ahead and you may have to pay for a further appointment: A recent summary care record which you must obtain from your own medical centre Photo identification = Passport or DVLA licence (photo card only) Any current medication This medica”
• How often: No age-banded schedule is published. The renewal application form lists a 'DVLA Group II medical report - fully completed and signed' among the documents to be submitted, so a medical is required at each renewal as well as on first application. Nothing found setting different intervals at 45/50/55/60/65
• Form: Council's own 'DVLA Group 2 Medical Examination Report' (July 2021, 12 pages), issued in the application pack. Strictly mandatory: 'Only this approved, fully completed report form will be accepted'
• Possible exemption: NOT ADOPTED as far as can be verified. A June 2021 Regulatory Committee report PROPOSED a 'technical exemption' so that drivers who also hold HGV/PSV licences would not have to pass the same Group 2 medical twice - at renewal they would instead sign a medical self-declaration and the council would verify their DVLA Group 2 status. That report is a recommendation to the Executive Board, not adopted policy, and the proposal expressly kept the full medical for FIRST-TIME applicants even if they already hold an HGV/PSV licence. No current Halton application guidance, medical form or renewal form mentions any HGV/PSV exemption. Treat as proposed-only unless the council confirms adoption
